Arts Warehouse at BRIC

Color Study Collection, Landis Carey, 2024, 13” each, Stoneware and glaze, $450 each

“I’ve realized something important about the color I experience when I meditate. I’ve been journaling at specific times of the day, and through this practice, I’ve gained clarity about what I’m seeing and feeling. While the colors in the undulating waves are important, where and how the light prisms pierce these color veils is critical. The colors are emotions. The light is purity. My pieces presented at BRIC are my first investigation into how my layered glazes can reveal light. These investigations test glaze viscosity and translucency, and in trying to understand the riddle of glaze flow and pooling, I hope to one day fully communicate my color experiences as large-scale installations. These are the first of several investigations that will be hung at BRIC over the next six months.”
